Purchase Agreement, Privacy Policy, and Terms

Buying one or more tickets counts as your full acceptance to this entire agreement.

This agreement (terms) was updated on January 27, 2026, and applies to all ticket holders and ticket buyers.

Unless a section specifically references "Matchmaker service", all statements will apply to Speed Dating events.

Definitions


Go Express ordering

This option allows you to conveniently jump to payment stage without specifying any ticket holder information. These terms apply to orders completed this way:

Upon order completion, Names and email addresses of all ticket holders on your receipt may show up as "Not available" and "notavailable@not.available"

We require a full name (first, and last) and contact info (example: email address) for each ticket holder in order to admit that person in and to deliver match results hours after event has ended. You must present this info either:

To avoid any delays, please ensure your ticket holders do NOT arrive before you do unless we have already received their names from you via email.

We will provide you an event status update when sales close (whether or not the event runs).

If an event cancels, you will receive a refund (to your original payment method) of the entire order total minus applicable service fees. Inform us before the sales ending date of the applicable event if you prefer to move any affected ticket holders to future events upon event cancellation.

If event runs, and you failed to provide us with sufficient ticket holder information in time, then you must inform the ticket holders that event is running. We do not issue refunds for any tickets for events that officially run.

If the entire order consists of one ticket only for yourself to one or more events, then just announcing your name (and your intention to participate) to the host upon your arrival is sufficient for entry as long as you are the same gender as the ticket holder in your order.

You and all ticket holders in your order for an event will be limited to using only paper match cards on-site unless we receive all ticket holder information no later than the night before the event day.


3rd-party ticket vendors

Only tickets legally purchased on our website or directly in person from the Ontario Speed Dating host will be accepted. Tickets (digital, or paper) obtained from 3rd-party platforms will NOT be accepted for entry. These platforms include Eventbrite, and Ticketmaster.

If any ticket you bought did not come directly from us, then immediately request a refund from whoever sold you the ticket, as he/she may have collected a substantial amount of money from you while potentially aiming to scam other people similarly. You may wish to call police if the unrecoverable amount is substantial. Sometimes such people perform ticket scalping for a living.


Matchmaker membership terms

Upon receipt of membership payment, we will ask you a series of questions about yourself. You can avoid answering some questions, but doing so may limit your chances of success.

The total number of potential matches we can offer you depends on:

Breaks

If you request it, we will issue a "break" by never disclosing potential matches to you for a period of time. Breaks do NOT extend any membership period nor do they affect any other part of your membership.

Membership periods

Each membership period lasts 90 days.

If you buy yourself extra memberships, then membership period is 90 days times number of extra memberships purchased plus number of days remaining in your current membership.

Membership renewals must be done as separate matchmaker membership purchases.

Service carry-overs

Your profile, answers to questions, and partner preferences will be carried over from one membership period to the next if that period is paid for and it starts within 7 days from when last period has expired.

Nothing else will be carried over. Included items will be reset in the next membership period.

Zones and Zone add-ons

Zones represent our service areas. A zone add-on must be purchased before the event host travels to that zone, unless the blind date or consulation location is within the green zone, and is used from your allowance in your membership.

Contact us if you need a service outside any of our zones. If we can accommodate, then costs may be high, and we'll send you a special invoice which must be paid first.

Admission and rental costs

Any fees for using a meeting location (example: meeting in a theme park next to an attraction, or to use a special room) must be paid by you in advance. We will not utilize areas that charge a rate based on time of use.

Early Termination

We will end all of your memberships instantly and issue NO refund (and NO credit) for any of your memberships or any associated components if for any reason, you:

No Guarantees

Despite our efforts, we cannot guarantee that a potential match will be made available for you.


Floater

A floater is someone that is more flexible in their venue choices and/or availability.

A ticket holder that becomes a floater must accept an invitation to an event we have available subject to restrictions set by the floater.

If we cannot assign an event within 30 days from when purchase was complete, then a refund will become available.


GO VIP (vip tickets)

We may at anytime offer GO VIP to events at select venues. This is an extra ticket that can be blended into a regular speed dating ticket to one event for an additional cost. GO VIP offers extra menu items or features for the ticket holder as described on the applicable event pages.

These tickets must be purchased with applicable speed dating tickets for the VIP statuses to be effective.


Our communication to you

All emails, including our automated ones is sent from emails ending in @ontariospeeddating.ca. A receipt is instantly emailed for each successfully paid order.

Remote email blocking

If your email provider and/or settings stops our emails from reaching you (by notifying us with an automatic error), then within 1 to 6 hours, we will make one attempt to email you from our backup email address, unless you request us to not contact you.

If you require a receipt, and did not receive one within 12 hours from making a successful payment, please contact us, and we will send you one.

The backup email address is shown on the help page. Due to robots incorrectly deciding what email is considered safe or harmful, we may change our backup email anytime without notice in order to serve all our customers better.


Text Messaging

If you provided your mobile number, we will send a condensed receipt to it upon successful payment, or if you abandoned your cart or request an alert, we will text a one-time reminder as well.

We will text important event updates (often no more than 2) to anyone listed in your order that you provided a phone number for as long as either:

We aim to limit each message to under 141 characters. Depending on the phone, or carrier, the message may arrive as a multimedia message (MMS).

We are not responsible for any charges any carrier applies to you or any ticket holder in your order for receiving any text messages from us.


Your Information (Privacy Policy)

We use names, email addresses, and phone numbers in your order for any of these purposes:

For any floaters in your order, their age information helps us seek the best events for them.

For speed dating event ticket buyers

To maintain your privacy, we'll forget ticket holder information (including destroying any of it on paper) after match results are sent out, or once refund process begins for that ticket holder, whichever comes first. Contact us if your information should be exempt from destruction.

For each person in your order (including buyer), you must provide a valid full name, and either a valid:

For matchmaker members

Your information is stored on file for the remaining days in your current membership period plus 7 days. If another membership period is not purchased before the 7th day after the membership expiry date has passed, then all personal information in connection to the membership will be destroyed.

Information you provide in common with your potential partner may be shared with each other if we believe you and him/her are a potential match, and we believe that info raises the chance that a successful match would occur. Any last name, physical address, or super sensitive information you choose to provide will NOT be shared with anyone.

These privacy terms apply to all orders

If you pay by debit/credit card, information about the card is shared with our processor Clover to successfully complete your order. You may review the Clover Privacy policy here.

Privacy surrounding orders paid by Interac E-transfer are governed by the company or bank you issued the payment through.

We are NOT responsible for non-delivery of messages if an error happened at your end. Examples of this include:

Cash Payments

No venue employee may conduct ticket sales on our behalf unless we, and the venue owner both permit it.

We accept cash at select locations by appointment only. You will meet with the Ontario Speed Dating host for each cash transaction. He will wear a badge on-site for identification purposes.

Cash payments for each ticketed event must be made no later than 7 days before the sales closing time of that event. A floater must wait a minimum 7 days before we place him/her in an event if the ticket is paid with cash. A matchmaking membership begins 7 days later if you pay for it by cash. This ensures that all money is validated, and that those paying legally will not suffer.

Upon receiving cash, we will place the order into the system, and you will immediately receive a receipt by email while validating the cash with the bank. Please contact us if you have not received one after 24 hours.

If you paid using counterfeit money, then we'll cancel all affected orders, and you will be liable for any resulting punishment which could include jail time.


Age requirements

With respect to the event details, to participate, your age must be either:

Example: For an event for ages 30 to 50, you must be 30, or older by December 31st of this year, and be younger than 52 by December 31st.

Acceptable age evidence

You must carry original identification containing your face picture, and birthdate. We'll only ask to see it if several participants believe you're within the valid age range for the event. Acceptable identification items include:

We do not accept health cards, or "cards" you print on any media found on a 3rd-party image website even if the "card" is modified to include your photo, and birthdate.

If after we request identification, we learn that your age is not valid, or you refuse to show identification, then you must leave the event.

We put this policy in place to prevent people from meeting "creeps" or people significantly outside of their desired age range.


Ticket Transfers

Complimentary speed dating tickets in our matchmaking packages can only be used by you. They cannot be transfered to anyone else and have no monetary value.

For speed dating and special events

Should an event cancel, affected ticket holders in your order may attend the next similar-priced event for free.

Contact us before sales closing time if any ticket holder in your order would like to transfer his/her ticket to anyone else regardless of event.

You must state the new person's full name, and their email address for them to receive match results. We ask for that person to send us a natural message from their email so we can verify that person is a human being.

The amount you receive as a refund (when eligible) equals original price you paid us (not whatever amount someone paid you) minus the service fee.

Price conflict resolution

Transfers that occur are done at NO additional cost. If new event is lower priced, then buyer qualifies for a refund of the price difference.


Basic rules in events

You will NOT create, use, or do any of these things during the event:

Any special rules venue management issues to us that must be made public will appear in applicable event descriptions.


Coupon Usage

Only our original coupons the venue owner authorizes can be used for any menu items normally sold inside the venue. Photocopied coupons will NOT be accepted.

Only our participants will receive coupons. Ticket holders failing to appear to a running event for any reason will NOT receive a coupon for that event.

Each coupon has a set maximum amount (shown in applicable event descriptions) which can be applied against the grand total price printed on any bill, and/or price stated by venue staff.

Maximum discount can be increased when multiple original coupons are used together.

If total value of all coupons redeemed:

Coupons are only valid for orders on event day unless specifically noted in the event description.

If event cancels once you check-in on time with the host on-site, then we'll request from venue management a one-week expiry date extension to all unused coupon amounts.


Discounts and Promotions

Refer a Friend

You will earn the higher of $1 or the amount posted in the event description if you buy a ticket, refer someone, then they buy their first ticket to the same event.

This offer does NOT apply in these cases:

Multi-buy discount

This discount applies to your order if you buy:

The applicable multi-buy discount is displayed on applicable items during checkout.


Included 3rd-party items/services

We may at times offer free things on behalf of a 3rd-party once you buy tickets from us even if the tickets are refunded or transferred to another person.

3rd-party items and services have no monetary value and must be accepted as-is unless their person of authority (example: owner, manager) indicates otherwise.

If you require any item or service not included in the offer itself, then you must contact the 3rd-party and potentially pay them an applicable fee. We do not share any financial information with, nor make payments on your behalf to any 3rd-party.

We do NOT provide refunds, compensation, or insurance for anything provided by any 3rd-party regardless of the outcome you experience from your use of their item or service.


Limits on what we guarantee

We can guarantee that for running events, if your ticket holders arrive on time, they will all score a FREE item (unless specifically mentioned in the event description). We however cannot guarantee any of these things at the event:


Information Security

All data at this box office is transmitted over a secure connection. This is confirmed with a padlock symbol or similar indicator appearing in your web browser.

Your Financial Information (including your credit card digits) is securely encoded before being sent over the internet, and to your bank. We only have access to last 4 digits of card numbers. The number may only be shared with the correct cardholder by email if there is a huge issue with a payment and/or refund.


Venue Staff Responsibilities

A venue staff member must:

* Exception: Venue staff members can only conduct ticket transactions if all tickets are first pre-purchased from us. Our refund policy takes precedence over staff member's own refund policy.


Uncontrolled cancellations

In rare cases, an event may cancel for reasons outside of our control which include:

If an event a ticket holder signed up for becomes canceled for any reason outside of our control AND the cancellation date is NOT the same as the sales closing date for that event, then we will immediately notify you (regardless of how you completed the order form).

You'll then have up to 7 days to either choose a refund or transfer the ticket holder to another event. If we receive no reply in time, then we'll issue a refund.

The actual time you'll have is 4 days plus the lower of:


Overflow of one gender

If an event runs, and the number of people signed up for one gender is at least 2 higher compared to the other gender, then an overflow of one gender occurs. In this case, we will void just enough tickets to the affected event to obtain a balance. Such voided tickets count as event cancellations for the applicable ticket holders, and refunds and/or event transfers will occur in accordance with this entire purchase agreement.

Overflow at sales closing time

If an overflow of one gender occurs at the sales closing time, then the ticket(s) that was/were purchased the latest will be voided first. If this requires cancelling part of a group of tickets to the same event, then random tickets from that group will be selected.

For example: If we must void one ticket to achieve balance, and the latest ticket order contains two or more tickets to the affected event, then we will void one ticket. All other ticket holders will remain active.

Decision overrides

If you prefer we void specific (instead of randomly selected) ticket(s) in your order to the affected event, then contact us anytime before the sales ending time with the names of the specific ticket holders and the order in which they should be voided.

Accommodations

If you bought two or more tickets to the affected event and you require the voided ticket holder(s) to attend, please contact us before the sales ending time. We might allow them to attend, but they may not participate in the event as we have already voided their ticket(s).

Overflow at the event

We will first see if sufficient people of the overflowing gender are willing to back out (as in cease to participate). If not, then we will select people at random to back out to achieve balance.

You will receive a refund equal to the ticket price you paid minus the lowest service fee ($3.00) for each ticket holder in your order that arrived on-site then backed out due to overflow with our approval.


Refunds, credits, and event transfers

Venue staff CANNOT issue refunds (unless we approve it) since they do NOT run our events. They only allow us to rent space & items needed to run OUR event.

Refunds methods and time limits

We cannot issue a refund to debit/credit cards for an order that was paid over 120 days (or 4 months) ago, however we can issue a refund for orders in these cases via Interac E-transfer and/or cash.

Refunds for matchmaker membership and directly related services

There are NO refunds or credits for any matchmaker membership, zone add-ons, blind dates, consultations or complimentary speed dating ticket associated with it unless we do not terminate your membership early AND any of the following apply to you.

If we cannot run the complimentary speed dating event, then you may transfer your ticket to any future speed dating event we host for FREE provided that:

Your refund amount for one membership is a one-time lump-sum amount equal to the membership price minus the one-time fee explained below if any of these events occur:

Refunds for Floaters

A floater ticket is only refundable if we:

Refunds for Regular events

This section assumes you bought one or more tickets priced lower than $50 each.

Tickets not assigned to any active event are always refundable.

To qualify for a refund for tickets to a specific event, you must contact us before the refund deadline, which is no later than 96 hours before sales closing time of that event, or wait until any of these occur:

We'll email you if any tickets in your order become canceled. We'll issue you a refund if we receive no reply by email within 96 hours from when we sent it.

All refunds will be returned to your original form of payment.

Refunds for Special Events

NO refund will be issued AT ALL unless the event is canceled. NO refund for early bail out.

Refund for event cancellation upon your arrival

To qualify, you must arrive to the correct event, check in with the host on-time, and he must announce an event cancellation on-site.

The refund amount for all your tickets to one event (and VIP) is 50%-100% of what you paid minus the sum of (a) any applicable service fee, and (b) higher of: Maximum coupon value, or cost of the advertised included item.

Actual refund amount depends on how many people show up, how imbalanced the genders are, whether we and/or the venue owner canceled the event, any fees we must pay for room rental, and the reason of cancellation.

We won't cancel an event if only 1 or 2 attendees fail to arrive.

All event coupons will remain valid for redemption for the day.

Refunds for VIP

Refunds for the VIP portion of your ticket follow the same rules as refunds for regular events.

Automatic Refunds

We may automatically void your tickets, and issue an appropriate refund if:

  1. We received full payment over 3 months ago, AND
  2. You paid via a method other than Interac E-transfer, AND
  3. Either:
    1. Your event ran, and we failed to provide notice, OR
    2. All events we placed you in were canceled.

Refund processing time

All times mentioned are based on when we initiate the refund.

Refunds normally require 1 - 10 days to complete because our payment processor, AND your card issuer need enough time to validate, process, and transfer funds to you.

Refunds for interac E-transfer, and cash payments can take as little as 4 hours.

Refunds for overpayments

We will contact you to make arrangements to issue a refund or credit for any overpayments, even if any ticket holder fails to arrive to an event.

No refund for other reasons

We do not issue refunds for any other reason. Ticket holders must be of correct age for the event, and must arrive on-time regardless of other life events, and traffic conditions.

Refund amounts

If the ticket being refunded is part of a discount or package deal, then the ticket refund equals the discounted price (plus VIP if purchased) minus applicable service fees.

For example: If the ticket price is $20 each (or $10 each for 5 or more), and you bought 5 at once, then the refund amount for one ticket in that order (if you qualify as per above terms) is $10 (not $20) minus applicable service fees.

Your receipt will indicate the amount you paid per ticket after discounts. The refund amount will equal the per ticket price indicated on it minus applicable service fees.

If VIP was purchased with the ticket and the event becomes canceled, then the VIP and ticket will be refunded at the same time.


Refunds limited liability

We issue refunds of the correct amounts to eligible customers as they become due, However once we issue the refund, we cannot be responsible if you receive less than the correct refund amount for any of these reasons:

We will send you proof of our refund attempt to your preferred contact method, and we may contact our bank as necessary. To avoid being in this situation, it is imperative that you supply us with the correct information, and to notify us as the information changes.


Service fee

We must pay fees for business sustainability, website maintenance, transit, event room bookings, and to pay our financial networks, including credit card companies such as MasterCard, and Visa. We add those fees together and factor the current affordability crisis to determine a fair fee.

The non-refundable per-ticket or per-item service fee that applies to all payment methods for speed dating services (except for in-person cash transactions) is shown below:

The fee is already included in the advertised ticket price. If we issue you a refund for one ticket, the refund amount will be the ticket price (at the time you made payment) minus the one current applicable service fee.

If you purchased a Special Event Ticket, and (with our approval) moved to one of our regular Speed Dating events, then the Special Event cancellation fee will still apply.

Fees for VIP refunds

There is no service fee for the VIP portion of a ticket if both the VIP and the regular speed dating ticket are paid for in one transaction and they belong to the same event.

Fees for Cash Payments for speed dating tickets

If you pay by cash, a one-time $3.00 non-refundable convenience fee applies regardless of how many orders are placed, or how many tickets are in each order. This fee, plus the total cost of all orders placed must be paid in full during the appointment.

This convenience fee can be used against any non-refundable fee (see above table) that applies to any one ticket in your order if we refund your ticket.


Third-party fees

We will not reimburse you (nor issue a refund for) any charges you may face from any third-party regarding your order, even if any refund or event cancellation occurs. Such third-party fees include, but are not limited to:


Bail on 1st cancellation

This option is NOT available for matchmaking memberships or for floater tickets.

Our continuous goal is to unite as many people as possible, We introduced a new non-refundable service fee in an effort to ensure people are 100% serious about forming new friendships or relationships.

If you bought one ticket, we cancel the event, and we start a refund, then the new "Bail on 1st cancellation" fee applies and is immediately deducted from the refund.

If you transfer a ticket from a canceled event to a future event, that future event becomes canceled, then the lower regular speed dating cancellation applies at refund time as long as the ticket is not assigned to a scheduled event.

If we received no reply from you after 96 hours have passed since we issued an event cancellation notice to you, then that counts as you requesting a refund at that point.

All conditions in this section apply to each ticket in a multi-ticket order regardless of who they belong to, or the speed dating events they apply to.

The "Bailing Out Early" fee applies if you request a refund between the time your ticket is first applied to a scheduled (not canceled) event and the sales closing time of that event, even if the ticket was transferred from a previous event.


Lightning Bail

This option is NOT available for matchmaking memberships or for floater tickets.

If the sum of all ticket timespans for one ticket is under 168 hours (7 days) then only the Lightning Bail fee applies for that same ticket at refund time.

A ticket timespan is the total time it took from when a ticket was first applied to an event until the sales closing time of that same event.

If a ticket is purchased to an event where the sales closing time is more than 7 days away from the time of purchase, then this fee will not apply to that ticket.

This non-refundable fee is higher because many customers that purchased at last minute opted for refunds if their events canceled.


Bailing out early

This option is NOT available for special events, floater tickets, or for matchmaking packages.

This section will apply to any ticket from the time it's assigned to any event to the sales ending time of that same event.

If you purchased a ticket, and require a refund 96 or more hours before sales ending time of the first event that your ticket holder is part of, contact us as soon as possible with a compelling reason for your drop out.

We offer this option because people may experience emergencies and/or other unforeseen circumstances, thereby preventing them from participating.

Bailing out could also mean you're not as serious about finding a match as you once were.

Should we proceed with a refund in this manner, the early bail-out fee will apply.


Payments, and Fraud

It's sad that people love systems that commit fraud. We're taking measures to ensure no fraud occurs. If we learn that a payment has been reversed after a ticket was issued, we will take these actions against the buyer in this order:

  1. We'll promptly email him/her to seek valid payment.
  2. If we receive no reply within 24 hours (or 2 hours on event day), We'll:
    • void tickets,
    • ban him/her from future events, and/or
    • report transaction to relevant authorities.

No Expiry of Terms

These terms will apply to your entire order (and all ticket holders in the order) upon receiving payment, and do not expire regardless of how many tickets become void, or any refund amount issued.

If we modify these terms after you paid for an order in full, then the original terms that were made available to you will apply to that order.


Receipts

The following receipts are issued once we accept your payment (or up to 24-hours later if you paid in-person).

  1. One from clover.com showing the grand total payment
  2. One from us confirming payment, or a detailed order receipt if you prefer communication via email.

Clover

For all cash and Interac E-transfer payments, the receipt will show the payment method as check.

No overcharging

If you submit your order and pay by card, you will be immediately charged the grand total only one time regardless of what is stated on any message you receive from us or clover.


Language

The Speed Dating host understands only English.

Should you have inquiries, and you cannot understand English, please email us, and specify what language you use in the subject line to help us understand what you are saying.

We will attempt to respond to you in your language.

When dealing with a foreign language, we use software to decipher it.
