Refunds available for canceled events

Refunds are available to ticket holders of our events that later become canceled. We'll explain why, plus show how our competitors compare.

Single In The City

They have expensive matchmaking prices, plus mixed reviews on Google. A reviewer believed that random ladies got free service. Another stated all men at one event had disabilities, yet women did not.

Refunds are made available in rare circumstances. They state this under Section 8 of events:

A "Credit" or refund may be issued (at SITC’s discretion) for changes in age range or city, if requested. However, if an event venue is changed but remains in the same city, no refunds or credits will be given, as the event will continue to run in the same city and same age range listed.

My Cheeky Date

People reported complaints through Better Business Bureau and Trustpilot.com about their refund policies on many services citing manipulation. We believe many good reviews people left resulted from them operating worldwide.

Last sentence in paragraph one in their terms indicate this:

Your purchase will not be issued a refund. All sales are final.

Their reviews vary in stars. We tried them several years ago in Toronto, met similar people everytime, but never scored a match. Refund policy is somewhat lenient, yet it won't help if events become canceled too late. Here's their message:

To receive a refund (minus a $5 + tax administration cost - per person), please cancel 5 business days prior before the event.
We are unfortunately not able to give you a refund if ... you do not cancel five business days prior to the event

This relatively new company (founded in 2022) has claimed to run hundreds of events across Southern Ontario. A few dozen people (or bots) provided reviews through Google.

Upon reading their FAQ's page, we scrolled near the bottom, clicked "What if I can't attend an event?". Response is this:

Speed dating relies heavily on balanced ratios, and last-minute cancellations can impact both the event’s success and overall experience. For this reason, we do not offer refunds for any reason.

Why do we make refunds available?

Simply put, We have no interest in emptying people's bank accounts, or jacking up their debt, especially if we cannot provide a service.

In today's affordability crisis, employed people are keeping jobs. Corporate greed may cause those folks to have little time for anything else.

This is particularly disastorous to a ticket buyer that is not permitted to book additional time off, as his/her employment could be terminated for doing so.

Many companies give a postponed label to canceled events. SITC makes that an excuse to make NO refunds available.

When we cancel an event, It refers to only one scheduled event. Our customers of canceled events can choose a future event we run or we issue refunds. People shouldn't have to fight with their employer to become available to a specific speed dating event.
